When I Look Back

Jackie playing guitar

I knew it all.
The night was mine.
Pour one more double – I’ll be just fine.
There ain’t nothin’ wrong at all
with drinking alone.
A long way home.
No one’s waitin’.
I wander these roads,
They lead me to thinking…
If I died tonight, would anyone know?

When I look back at the messes,
I would drink for days and pray it’d go away.
Now that I’ve picked up the pieces, nothing’s the same.
No reason to stay.

Too many times.
Too many roads.
Oh, too many excuses for one person alone.
Got to pack up all of my things,
and leave that bottle alone.

When I look back at the messes,
I would drink for days and pray it’d go away.
Now that I’ve picked up the pieces, nothing’s the same.
No reason to stay.

Now that I’ve picked up the pieces.
Nothings the same –
I’ve wasted…
All of my days gone wasted…

Oh…

Oh, oh, oh…
